THE ART INSTITUTES STORY TELLERS SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION

Enter our Storytellers Photography Competition, and you could start filling the world with your creativity. Send us six original photos, along with a 500-to-800-word artistic vision statement describing what you’re looking to communicate based on the theme Storytelling Through the Lens.

Convey an emotion. It’s your opportunity to capture a moment. Impress a panel of professional photographers for your chance to win the Storytellers Photography Competition. Get the creative and technical education that could launch your career.

To get started, download our Storytellers Photography Competition Brochure for details on how to enter. If you are using a model in your entry, you will also need to download and complete our Model Release Form . Debra Quinn is the high school graduate grand prize winner of The Art Institutes Storytellers Photography Competition 2011. The mother of two young girls made a commitment to take more photographs after her husband’s passing four years ago. Since that time, she has documented life’s events and captured memories with her camera.

Her submission to the competition has earned her a scholarship to The Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg where she will continue to develop her skills

The Chicago, Illinois native is looking forward to beginning courses on campus.

Karina Rios of Liberal, Kansas is the High School senior grand prize winner of The Art Institutes Storytellers Photography Competition 2011. Karina’s beautifully shot photo series, documenting a boy’s battle and ultimate loss to cancer, was selected as the winning submission. The 18-year-old’s motivation for the piece was to communicate a moving story through the use of black and white images.

Karina credits a four week course on dark-room photography and her high school art teacher as the primary inspirations for her interest in photography and motivation for entering The Art Institutes Storytellers Photography Competition.

Karina will learn the ins and outs of photography at The Art Institutes International—Kansas City.
